Places to go in BUSAN! (PART 2)

Continued from the previous post....

4) Seomyeon (서면)

A shopping street just like Myeongdong in Seoul!

Direction: Seomyeon Station, Metro Line 1 or 2

5) Tongyeong (통영시)

And when you are in Busan, i recommend you to visit Tongyeong (통영시) and visitMireuksan (미륵산).

Direction:
Take a train to Sasang Station (Line 2) -> Seoubu Bus Terminal -> purchase a ticket to Tongyeong (10,900 KRW) [2 hours] -> take local bus 141 from Tongyeong bus terminal [35 mins]

Buses to Tongyeong leave the terminal every 10-20 minutes.

Situated in Tongyeong (Gyeongsangnam-do), Mireuksan (461m) is considered one of the 100 best mountains in Korea. While not as high as other mountains, it is home to a lush forest, valleys with pure water, odd-shaped rocks, rock caves, and ancient temples. Upon climbing to the top of the mountain, visitors can see the breathtaking view of the sea enveloping Tongyeong. Near Tongyeong are a number of large and small islands including Mireukdo.

Hiking used to be the only option to climb up the mountain, but a cable car (covering over 2km, the longest in Korea) now carries visitors to a stop that leads to the top of the mountain through wooden decks (400m in length). In clear weather, visitors can even see Tsushima Island (in Japan), Cheongwangbong Peak in Jirisan, and Dolsando in Yeosu. The top of the mountain boasts a dazzling array of flowers in spring and exquisite fall foliage, attracting visitors in droves year-round. At the outskirts of the mountain are two ancient temples, Yonghwasa and Miraesa.

The cable car, known as Hallyeo Waterway Observation Cable Car is the longest (1.975m) cable car in Korea installed on Tongyeong Mt. Mireuksan (461m above the sea), one of the 100 celebrated mountains (the Office of Forestry) in Korea. Each Gondola has capacity of 8 people (There' re total 48 Gondolas). Visitors can reach the top of Mt. Mireuksan in this Gondola and there waits jewellery-like islands of Hallyeo Waterway, Tongyeong Harbor, often dubbed as Nopoli of Asia, old temples including Yonghwasa and Miraesa and the site of Hansan Daecheop where the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's love for the country is harbored.

6) Centum City
The biggest shopping mall in Korea, which also appeared as Guinness world holder for the largest department store is Centum City in Busan!

It consist of 2 BIG departmental store namely Shinsegae and Lotte! And around these area, you can get to BEXCO, Busan Cinema Center and KNN.

Direction: Metro Line 2, Centum City

6) Sampo Esplanade (삼포해안길)
Another place i love to go to is Sampo Esplanade (삼포해안길) in Busan! Although it is a long walk from the start of the abandoned rail track, the view is really nice and it is good to take pictures!

Direction: Metro Line 2, Jung-dong Station (Exit 7) -> walk 500m to Mipo 5-Road Junction and walk towards the sea front

Sampo Esplanade will take you past Mipo, Cheongsapo and Gudeokpo, coastal villages located between Haeundae Beach and Songjeong Beach. Mipo is a typical fishing village, with a breakwater, where Korean actress Ha Ji-Won starred in movie, "Haeundae". Cheongsapo, with its white and red lighthouses, became famous as the shooting location for the movie, "Blue Alarm".
